4 Days 3 Nights Sandakan wildlife & Nature Tour
Pick up from hotel and transfer to CQ Jetty for Selingan Turtle Island. This journey by motorised boat will take about 1 hour. After lunch, grab your mask, fins and snorkel and head to the beach where you can find lots of juvenile marine life or you can choose to relax or sun bathing by the beach. Before dinner, treat yourself to a slide show featuring information of the turtle park and turtles. After dinner, standby at the Cafeteria. Wait for Park Ranger’s signal before proceed in a small group to the egg-laying site to witness the mother turtle laying eggs, transferring of eggs to the hatchery and releasing of hatchlings to the sea. Stay overnight at Island Chalet.

Wake up early in the morning for breakfast and depart from the island by 7.00am. Estimated arrival time at the jetty at about 8.00am. You be transfer to Sepilok OrangUtan Rehabilitation Centre for the morning video show about the nursery purpose & objective. After the 20 minutes show, we proceed to the feeding platform where the park ranger will start the feeding at 1000 hours. By 1100 hours, freshen up before we depart for Kinabatangan, the gate of “Eco Tourism” which is approximately 2 hours drive passing thoroughly local villages and palm oil plantation. We are expected to arrive at a jungle lodge located at Bilit, by 1300 hours.
You be transfer to the lodge by local “sampan” boat which takes approximately 5 minutes. Lunch at the lodge and you have time to freshen up before 1600 hours for your afternoon boat cruise, searching for the wildlife that has been occupying the land before man. Few of the most commonly seen here are the Proboscis monkey, Oriental Pied Hornbill, Orang Utan, Long Tail Macaques, Stork Bill Kingfisher, to mention a few. The whole journey takes about 1 ½ hour return boat transfer till you reach your lodge before dinner. An option of night Jungle Walk (compulsory to take an in-house guide to avoid astray) can be arrange after dinner or simply relax to the sound of nature surrounding.

Day 3 ~ Oxbow Lake / Kinabatangan
At 0600 hours, take another boat trip, this time, in search of birdlife aggressively plundering the river for food, birds abound in all shapes and forms. Back to the lodge for breakfast thereafter take a jungle walk to the ox-bow lakes. The lakes are the abode of freshwater fish, otters and sometime – wild elephants may be sighted. Trek back to the lodge just in time for lunch and you have your own activities until 1600 hours for another boat trip along the river. Overnight at Bilit.

Day 4 ~ Gomantong Cave / Sandakan City Tour
After breakfast, we depart to Gomantong cave. The heartland of the Gomantong Rainforest Reserve have been the focus for birds’ nests for centuries. There are two cave complexes – Simud Hitam (Black Cave) soaring up to 90 metres high and the more accessible of the two, and Simud Putih (White Cave), where the more valuable nests are found. The resident creatures of the caves include swiftlets (from which the nests are collected) and bats among others. Outside, other birds such as serpent eagles, bat hawks and kingfishers can be seen. Arrival at Sandakan town, you be brought for city tour which is rich with historical value. For an unrivalled panoramic view of Sandakan bay and a look at its newest temple, a visit should be made to the extravagantly ornate Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, on the hill-top above Tanah Merah south of Sandakan town center.
The Australian Memorial, on the site of what was a prisoner-of-war camp now in Taman Rimba, off Labuk road, commemorates allied soldiers who lost their lives during the Japanese occupation. The much-talked about Agnes Keith House is hard to miss. With its sprawling green lawns and colonial-style wooden walls, the residence has since been restored by the Sabah Museum. In collaboration with the Federal Department of Museums and Antiquities. The site of the original town of Sandakan, which began in 1879, is located a short walking distance from the center of town at Kampung Buli Sim Sim. Sim-Sim is the large water village where the neat wooden houses are perched on stilts above the sea and reached by plank walkways. Until today, the practice as a fishing village are still been forward by their generation. Finishing, you be transfer to the airport / hotel, end of tour.
